One of the city?s top Italian restaurants, Le Virtu, will be holding their annual outdoor food and wine event, La Cottora, on January 20 in Il Campo, Le Virtu?s outdoor dining space.
Yes it will likely still be winter in January, but Il Campo features a number of wood burning stoves to keep you warm on the outside, while a winter feast prepared by Le Virtu?s Chef Joe Cicala, Stateside?s George Sabatino, and American Sardine Bar?s Scott Schroeder warms you from the inside. If that?s not enough warmth, the house drinks should take care of the rest.
These are just some of the dishes and drinks being featured at La Cottora:
>>>Sagne e Fasciul (Pasta and Beans) made in a fired outdoor cauldron, served with Panini made with porchetta and house-cured sausage.
>>>Spicy Tripe Sandwich on Sarcone?s bread.
>>>Albacore Tuna Crudo with olive oil, poached potato, broccoli rabe and vinaigrette.
>>>Montepulciano d?Abruzzo red wine from Abruzzo region of Italy.
>>>Vin Brulee warm red wine with star anise, cinnamon and clove.
>>>Mela Carmellata made with salted caramel vodka, Frangelico and warm apple cider.
There will be more dishes and drinks, there will be chestnuts, and there will be baked desserts.
All profits from the event will be donated to Project H.O.M.E., a non-profit that works to help the homeless in Philadelphia get off the street.
La Cottora will be held Sunday January 20, 2013 from 5 to 9PM. Tickets are $70 each and can be purchased here.
