New Android apps worth downloading: Twitter update, Imgur, Shelter

We're kicking off your week with a newly updated Twitter app! It still brings you the ability to follow the updates of tons of users while adding your own to tweets to the mix, and includes a redesigned compose feature and new notifications. Following Twitter is Imgur, the photo-sharing network, which has just released a beta app that lets you post images and surf through the most interesting ones on the service. Finally, we have Shelter, a zombie survival card game in which you build a deck of cards and to fight waves of the undead.

What?s it about? Follow users and post short status updates, photos and video with Twitter.

What?s cool? If you're not familiar with micro-blogging site Twitter, the basic gist is to create a timeline of status updates like you might see on Facebook, making for quick and simple posts that might include links, images, videos and whatever else. The cool thing is that you can post your status updates to Twitter, and you can also follow lots of different kinds of people, including celebrities. The app's newest update features a new composer for sending your tweets and better notifications, as well.

Who?s it for? Twitter fans, the original app is great for keeping up to date with your timelines and posts.

What?s it about? Browse viral images on the Internet or upload your own with the official beta release of Imgur.

What?s cool? Imgur is an image-sharing service that lets you add captions and information when sharing your photos with others, but arguably the more interesting part is checking out all the images shared by other users. The official Imgur app lets you search through images, leave comments and ratings, and manage multiple Imgur accounts for your own uploads. Just keep in mind that the app is still in beta, which means the developers are still working a few bugs out of the system.

Who?s it for? If you're an Imgur user or just enjoy great viral photos from the Internet, check this one out.

What?s it like? Try EZ Imgur for a third-party alternative, and see more images gaining popularity on the web with Reddit Pictures.

What?s it about? Zombies have risen and you need to survive them in Shelter, a card-game that mixes in elements of the castle defense genre.

What?s cool? Your ultimate goal is to survive the rising of the undead in Shelter, and to do so you'll build a deck of cards that you can use to fight off zombies across the game's five levels. There are more than 100 cards at your disposal, all of which have different abilities, positives and negatives, so building a deck that fits your play style and strategy is key. Your deck goes up against a ?zombie deck,? and your goal is to use your different cards to hold off waves of zombies that try to break down the barricades of your shelter. The title's story unfolds in a graphic novel style, and Shelter includes an integrated deck builder to help you along.

Who?s it for? Fans of the zombie apocalypse and collectible card games will feel right at home with Shelter.
