Sports Roundup: Successful start for Hudson Legion

Mike Bohane three a four-hitter, allowing two earned runs and striking six for the complete-game win as Hudson?s American Legion team opened its season by routing Weston 12-2 in a Zone 5A game.

John Rumney went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, James Adams went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs and Steve Rivela went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Hudson. Hudson jumped in front with two runs in the first inning and, leading 3-0, broke it open with four runs in both the fourth and fifth frames.

Senior Ruth

Neel Gupta had two hits and scored a run as Marlborough edged Sudbury in a Central Mass. Senior Babe Ruth game, 2-1.

Nick Keymont pitched a complete game, scattering two hits with four walks while striking out six.

Marlborough scored both its runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead.

In the next game, Mike Yates pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in Marlborough?s 4-1 victory over Natick.

Yates had a no-hitter entering the fifth inning. Zack Graham had a bases-clearing double in the third inning to put Marlborough (3-0) ahead 3-0. Brad Arsenault and Gupta each had two hits.

Football

Hudson graduate Darnell Butler and Assabet graduate Paul Harpin have both been selected to play in the Shrine Chowder Bowl Football Classic. The game will be played Friday at Doyle Field in Leominster at 7 p.m.
